← All exercises Exercise Single-Leg Balance Reach Isolation | Advanced
A balance drill standing on one leg while the free leg reaches out and lightly touches the floor in front, to the side, and behind, then returns to the standing position each time.
Tips & instructions Form
Touch the floor as lightly as possible rather than resting weight on the reaching foot, since taking weight off the standing leg defeats the point of the balance challenge.
Progression
A common return-to-sport and ankle-rehabilitation test, since the three reach directions expose different balance weaknesses than a simple single-leg hold does.
